You woudl think that people woudl have learned this lesson from the elementary school game "telephone" and that used the same language. So going from one language to another 100 fold increases errors.

Yeah. I suspect most people wouldn't have much of a problem with the original texts. God, for instance, is gender-neutral in Aramaic, neither male nor female. There have been an unbelievable number of translation and transcription errors down the ages.
